Scam Prevention Tips Every Member Should Know

July 22, 2026

Our members’ safety and financial security remain our top priority. Scammers are constantly evolving their tactics, but staying informed can help you recognize and avoid fraud. Keep these tips in mind:

Be Wary of Unexpected Calls
If you receive a call claiming to be from AgCarolina Farm Credit, AgFirst, or another financial institution, do not provide personal information. If something doesn't seem right, hang up and contact the organization directly using a phone number from its official website or a trusted statement.

Watch for Phone and Text Scams
Fraudsters often pose as trusted organizations and may use urgent language to pressure you into acting quickly. Always verify requests for personal information, account details, or payments before responding.

Stay Alert to AI-Powered Scams
Criminals are increasingly using artificial intelligence to create realistic emails, text messages, voice recordings, and other communications. Be cautious of unexpected messages, even if they appear to come from someone you know or trust.

Think Before You Click
Avoid clicking links or downloading attachments from unsolicited emails or text messages. When in doubt, visit the organization's website directly instead of using links provided in the message.

Protect Your Personal Information
Never share passwords, verification codes, or sensitive account information with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly. Legitimate financial institutions will not ask for this information through unsolicited calls, texts, or emails.
